For the current month, George’s Coffee House has available 83 pounds of A grade coffee and 110 pounds of B grade coffee. These will be blended into 1-pound packages as follows: an economy blend that contains 6 ounces of A grade coffee and 10 ounces of B grade coffee, and a superior blend that contains 8 ounces of A grade coffee and 8 ounces of B grade coffee. There is a $4 profit on each economy blend package sold and a $5 profit on each superior blend package sold. Assuming that the store is able to sell as many blends as they make, how many packages of each blend should they make in order to maximize their profit for the month?

Define variables.

Let x = number of 1 lb. packages of economy blend
Let y = number of 1 lb. packages of superior blend

Grade A constraint:
6x + 8y ≤ 83*16 = 1328   Divide both sides by 2:
3x + 4y ≤ 664

Grade B constraint:
10x + 8y ≤ 110*16 = 1760   Divide both sides by 2:
5x + 4y ≤ 880

(I have used ounces instead of pounds in the constraint equations to avoid fractions.)

Physical constraints:
x ≥ 0, y ≥ 0

Objective function:
P(x, y) = 4x + 5y

I encourage you to graph the inequalities to find the feasible region. The boundary lines for the two grade constraint inequalities intersect at (108, 85).

The feasibility region is a a quadrilateral with vertices at (0, 0), (0, 166), (108, 85), and (176, 0)

P(0, 0) = $0
P(0, 166) = $830
P(108, 85) = $857
P(176, 0) = $704

If I make a regular 12 cup pot(8oz in a cup, 2tbsp per cup-Maxwell House’s Breakfast Blend.) After its finished brewing, its coffee and it’s delicious, but if i leave the full pot to keep warm on its warmer, i notice some coffee evaporates, and concentrates the coffee. The first cups great the second cups like tar. Any advice to stop it from getting stronger/bitter/thick over time?

The heating element keeping the coffee warm burns away some of the liquid, making the coffee left in the pot stronger.

Hi y’all!
If you wonder, what’s going on, go to the channel’s page and read the rules :)

The recipe:

115 g (1/2 cup) of butter
3 eggs
170 g (3/4 cup) of sugar
190 g (1 2/3 cups) of flour
3 tablespoons of baking powder
3/4 cup of strong coffee

dark chocolate coating
rosemary

6 limes (one for decoration)
150 g (1 1/4 cups) of powdered sugar
200 g (1 cup) of cream cheese
300 g (1 1/3 cups) of yogurt
150 g (2/3 cup) of cream
9 sheets of gelatin
150 g of whipped cream

Whip the butter until it’s creamy. Add eggs and sugar and blend it. When it’s smooth, add flour and baking powder, which you mixed in a seperate bowl first. Blend it and add the coffee as well. Blend it again and pour it in a baking pan. Bake for about 30 minutes in the oven (150°C / 300°F). Let the cake cool down.
In the meantime, chop up the chocolate coating and the rosemary, mix it and let it melt. Put the chocolate coating on the cake and let it cool down again.
Wash the limes in hot water (or, if possible, take organic limes!) and take off their zest. Squeeze them out afterwards and add the juice to the zest. Add powdered sugar, yogurt and cream cheese and mix it. Put the gelatin in cold water for about 5 minutes. In the meantime, heat the cream and then melt the gelatin in it. Stir it like crazy so you don’t have any disgusting gelatin bits in your cake later ;) Pour the gelatin cream mixture in the yogurt stuff and blend it. Put it in the fridge until it starts gelatinizing. Then add the whipped cream and pour it on top of your cake. Put it in the fridge and wait for the next day. Then you can decorate it.. or just eat it :)
